A series of hand-rendered dot matrix images derived from the archive of the South African Navy. The portraits depict young cadets that sailed the HMS Thames from England to Cape Town in 1921. Dating from 1886, the ship was purchased as a training ship for boys wishing to join the Merchant Service and Navy. She was sunk by gunfire in 1947.
